Provence är en region i den soliga, sydöstra hörnan av Frankrike. Det egentliga Provence sträcker sig från parfymbyn Grasse i öst till Rhône-dalen i väst, från de alpina alper i norr till Medelhavet i söder. Även om det geografiskt sett inte är helt korrekt, så räknas den franska Rivieran i dag också till Provence, som då omfattar departementerna: Bouches-du-Rhône, Vaucluse, Var, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence och Alpes-Maritimes. Dessutom har vi valt att tage med departementen Drôme och Ardèche under området Provence-Côte d´Azur, då många av våra semesterboenden här ligger nära den naturliga gränsen för Provence-Côte d´Azur. Languedoc-Roussillon
Semesterboende Languedoc-Roussillon Languedoc-Roussillon er en region i den sydlige del af Frankrig. Området grænser op til den spanske grænse, Andorra og Middelhavet samt de følgende franske regioner: Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Rhône-Alpes, Auvergne og Midi-Pyrénées. Ligurien

Marche
Marche är en av Italiens mindre kända regioner som ännu inte har riktigt har uppvikt som turistmål bland skandinaver. Men även om regionen kommer alltid att stå i skuggan av Toscana och Umbrien, så att du kan njuta av en varierad kustlinje vid Adriatiska havet med vita sandstränder och höga klippor, storslagna landskap och många historiska attraktioner. Saumane-de-Vaucluse is a little medieval hilltop village set in very beautiful natural surroundings, 4 km from Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and 7 km from L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. Saumane-de-Vaucluse is a quiet little village which is not overrun by tourists. If you want to retire a bit from the hectic life on the coast and instead explore the beautiful Provencal hinterland, Saumane-de-Vaucluse is an ideal place to spend a holiday. Staying in Saumane-de-Vaucluse offers good possibilities for a variety of outdoor activities including walking tours, climbing, rafting, angling, golfing, skiing and many, many other things. Saumane-de-Vaucluse is not far away from the legendary Mont Ventoux, the fascinating canyons, Gorges de la Nesque and the two big mountain massifs, Plateau de Vaucluse and Montagne de Lubéron.

- Cycling: Challenges for everyone – both experienced and families with children. There are several scenic tours to other villages in the area, many easy mountain routes as well as the difficult Mont Ventoux route.
- Golf –There are lots of courses in the area, 4 in the department of Vaucluse and a lot in the neighbouring department Bouches du Rhône. Sevärdigheter i Saumane-de-Vaucluse

- Château de Saumane from the 12th century.
Saumane-de-Vaucluse is a typical Provencal medieval village with narrow winding streets, beautiful stone houses and fountains as well as remains of the old ramparts.
Right at the top of the village there is an impressive fortified castle, Château de Saumane, which, at the time, belonged to the uncle of the very famous French author Marquis de Sade. The castle originates from the 12th century and has been restored in the 19th century. It is private property and unfortunately not open to the public.From the top of the village there is a magnificent view of the surrounding verdant countryside.
At the other side of the castle a marked walking trail leads into the valley, and other pleasant paths lead into the forest. On the marked trail you will pass by a “bories house” and others can be seen between the trees on the hillsides of the valleys. These very old bories are round stone huts, built of flat lime stones and with very thick walls. They date back to the period of the Ligurians and the Celts. Not far from Saumane-de-Vaucluse, a little outside Gordes, there is an entire village of bories.
There are no shops in Saumane-de-Vaucluse, and no souvenir shops either, only a little café at the entrance to the village.
