Provence är en region i den soliga, sydöstra hörnan av Frankrike. Det egentliga Provence sträcker sig från parfymbyn Grasse i öst till Rhône-dalen i väst, från de alpina alper i norr till Medelhavet i söder. Även om det geografiskt sett inte är helt korrekt, så räknas den franska Rivieran i dag också till Provence, som då omfattar departementerna: Bouches-du-Rhône, Vaucluse, Var, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence och Alpes-Maritimes. Dessutom har vi valt att tage med departementen Drôme och Ardèche under området Provence-Côte d´Azur, då många av våra semesterboenden här ligger nära den naturliga gränsen för Provence-Côte d´Azur. Languedoc-Roussillon
Semesterboende Languedoc-Roussillon Languedoc-Roussillon er en region i den sydlige del af Frankrig. Området grænser op til den spanske grænse, Andorra og Middelhavet samt de følgende franske regioner: Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Rhône-Alpes, Auvergne og Midi-Pyrénées. Vallon-Pont-d’Arc is a little village beautifully situated in a mountainous area by the entrance to the famous canyons, Gorges de l’Ardèche, in the southern part of the Ardèche department. A holiday in Vallon-Pont-d’Arc primarily offers magnificent nature scenery. Here, you will find one of nature’s biggest wonders, Pont d’Arc, a more than 30 metres high natural bridge over the Ardèche river. The area offers a huge amount of outdoor activities including canoeing, horseback riding, climbing, angling, mountain biking, swimming, walking and hiking and cave exploring.

- Golf: There are one golf course in the department of Ardéche, Golf Annonay Gourdan, and several in i the neighbouring departments of Drôme, Lozère, Gard, Vaucluse, and Bouches du Rhône. - Aven d’Orgnac Grand Site de France: 3 star caves and prehistoric museum, situated in Orgnac l’Aven, 17 km from Vallon. www.orgnac.com
- Aven de la Forestière: Man sized cave situated in Orgnac l’Aven, 14 km from Vallon. The cave has easy access and is ideal for small children. Very beautiful cave with coral shaped crystal constellations. www.laforestiere.net
- Aven Marzal: Cave situated in the heart of Gorges de l’Ardèche in Saint Remèze, 18 km from Vallon.
- Château des Roure: Situated in Labastide de Virac, 8 km from Vallon. Château from the end of the Middle Ages, listed as historical monument in 1978. Important place during the religious wars. Was also, at the time, one of the biggest silk worm producers in the area. There is a little silk museum on location: www.chateaudesroure.com
- Confinerie des Bateliers de l’Ardèche (Vallon): If you want to experience Ardèche from the water, it is a good idea to spend a day in a boat (for six people with two skippers) and you will experience the fantastic landscape of Gorges de l’Ardèche with its flora and fauna. www.bateliers.net
- Expo Grotte Chauvet-Pont-d’Arc (Vallon): Displays some of the oldest prehistoric paintings in the world (32,000 years).
- La Maison des Artisans: Exhibits of local handicraft. Situated in Balazuc, 15 km from Vallon.
- Grotte des Huguenots: A 30 meter high cave, home for a speleological exhibition. The name of the cave refers to the fact that the cave during the religious wars was a shelter for the Huguenots, the French Protestants. Situated just outside Vallon.
- Les Fouilles de la Gleizasse: The remains of two old parish churches, Saint-Julien and Saint-Jean, destroyed by the Protestants during the religious wars in 1562, listed as historical monuments. Located in Salavas, 4 km from Vallon.

- Zoo Préhistorique de Marzal: Prehistoric zoological museum. Reconstructions of prehistoric animals in natural size and the prehistoric man, who lived 180,000 years ago and to our time. Located in Saint Remèze, 18 km from Vallon.
Vallon-Pont-d’Arc is a very lively place, notably in the summer, with several shops in the centre, restaurants and cafés.
In the village you will also find a chateau from 1639. In the great hall are displayed 7 wall carpets from Aubusson, illustrating the bloody crusades. There are several sights in and around Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, including an innumerable amount of caves. In the Chauvet Pont d’Arc grotte, which has several cave paintings, a small museum has been set up to respond to the tourists’ interest. It shows the life and culture of prehistoric man 35,000 years ago in Gorges de l’Ardèche.
Every summer there are special events like olive and lavender festivals and prehistoric days with exhibitions, workshops, conferences and films.
